Eternal Pain

Psalms 119:71: It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes.

When we have pain, pain relievers are often available that give some relief from for about three hours. The problem is, we are only supposed to take them every four hours. Try to imagine what it would be like to have eternal pain with no remedy or relief. That is what Sheol, the place that we commonly call Hell will be like. If you have never received Jesus that is what you have to look forward to. If you have friends or loved ones who have never received Jesus, that is what they have to look forward to.

Luke 16:22-24: And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham*s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; 23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. 24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.

After experiencing pain for the thousand years of the millennium plus the years they were dead before the millennium, unbelievers will be resurrected, judged and cast into the Lake of Fire, which will be eternal suffering without end.

Revelation 20:10-15: And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. 11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Receiving Jesus may not always relieve our physical pain, but it guarantees that our pain will not last forever. Receiving Jesus keeps us from the Lake of Fire and guarantees us a pain free eternity.

Revelation 21:4: And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

These truths ought to make us want to be sure we have received Jesus, and if we have, they should give us a heart to share the gospel with everyone we possibly can.

2 Corinthians 5:11a: Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; . . .

Jude 1:22-23: And of some have compassion, making a difference: 23 And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.
